Musical Theatre Acting Exploration
w/ Abby C. Smith
The Curriculum
-
Meet your instructor and fellow singers, learn the essentials of song interpretation, and play acting & song technique games. By the end of this session, you’ll already have learned the building blocks of song interpretation and chosen a song to work on throughout the classes.
-
Learn to understand, interpret, and bring alive the meaning of a song’s text. Abby will lead students in games, interactive exercises, and group activities to provide a practical understanding of musical theatre acting technique.
-
Apply techniques to your selected song. Through individualized feedback from Abby and group collaboration from the class, each singer will develop a unique, compelling, and engaging performance of their song.
-
It’s showtime! Present your song to the class in your chosen mock setting (audition or performance). After this class you’ll be ready to perform this song wherever you go - from voice recitals to auditions to competitions! Celebrate your progress and plan which song you’ll conquer next.
