Jack Wielar Wins Big at the NATS National Convention

On June 28th, 2024, Jack Wielar won first place in the Musical Theatre division of the NATS National Student Auditions. After advancing through state and regional auditions earlier this year, Jack was named one of six national semi-finalists in Commercial Music and one of twelve national semi-finalists in Musical Theatre. As a semi-finalist, Jack was invited to attend the National NATS Conference in Knoxville, Tennessee for the chance to win a cash prize and national recognition. At the National Conference, Jack made it to the final round of the Musical Theater division and placed first in the nation! Jack Wielar is a student of Wesley Diener and has been a member of WD Studio’s Core Program since 2021.

NATS is the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world. The NATS Student Auditions give thousands of young singers the opportunity to sing for a panel of NATS educators, and receive feedback and constructive criticism. The NATS National Student Auditions’ goal is to help students develop skills that will benefit life’s circumstances both on and off the stage. Former NATS President Roy Delp stated: "Perhaps one of the greatest ties that binds us together as NATS members is the care we have for the students of our colleagues, as demonstrated at our student auditions.” (Journal of Singing, 2000, Vol.57, No.1 p.2).
