WD Studio Singers Win at State and Regional NATS Competition

WD Studio singers advanced through both Regional and State levels in the National NATS Student Auditions! Many of the Core Program singers competed in the 2024 Virginia NATS competition on February 24th. We are so proud of Anisha, Antoinette, Cary, Charlotte, Ella, Emma, Jack, Josephine, and Reese who all worked hard to prepare their performances. Charlotte, Jack, and Josephine won first place awards in their respective categories at the state level, and advanced to the Mid-Atlantic Region rounds.

At the Regional level, WD Studio earned two first place wins and a second place win! Jack won first place in the High School Commercial Music (Tenor, Baritone, Bass), and second place in High School Musical Theatre (Tenor, Baritone, Bass). Josephine won first place in High School Commercial Music (Treble). Both Jack and Josephine are eligible to advance to Nationals!

NATS is the largest professional association of teachers of singing in the world. The NATS Student Auditions give thousands of young singers the opportunity to sing for a panel of NATS educators, and receive feedback and constructive criticism. The NATS National Student Auditions’ goal is to help students develop skills that will benefit life’s circumstances both on and off the stage. Former NATS President Roy Delp stated: "Perhaps one of the greatest ties that binds us together as NATS members is the care we have for the students of our colleagues, as demonstrated at our student auditions.” (Journal of Singing, 2000, Vol.57, No.1 p.2).
