WD Studio Singers cast in professional production of Newsies

Five WD Studio Singers have been cast in the professional production of Newsies at the 2026 Virginia Theatre Festival!

We are thrilled to announce that Jack Wielar, Quinn Kavanaugh, Ellie Winn, Priyanka Krishnaraj, and Mickey Comer have been cast in Virginia Theatre Festival’s upcoming production of Newsies. Disney’s Newsies is a Tony Award-winning musical that tells the story of newsboy Jack Kelly, who rallies his fellow “newsies” to stand up to powerful media moguls, protesting unfair working conditions and fighting for what is right.

Quinn, Ellie, Priyanka, and Mickey will perform as “Brooklyn Boys” who come to the aid of Jack Kelly and the New York Newsies in their fight for worker’s rights. Core Program singer Jack Wielar will star as Spot Conlon, the fearless leader of the Brooklyn Newsies.

We are so excited for our singers and know that they are going to have an unforgettable summer at the Virginia Theatre Festival. Performances run July 9 - July 19. If you’re in the Charlottesville area, come out and support our WD Studio singers!
